Please keep your school nurse updated on your child's health status, such as surgeries, medications, illnesses/diseases, new diagnoses, immunizations, and/or other conditions that may affect your child's school performance. Managing their medical conditions effectively can prevent them from getting sick and will reduce the chance of them missing school due to exacerbations of their medical condition.
Please make sure the emergency information form is completed and signed.
Certain health conditions may require an IHP (Individual Health Plan) for the safety and well-being of your child.
Encourage your child to eat healthy (cafeteria) food on a daily basis and supplement with healthy snacks, such as fruit or fresh vegetables.
Encourage your child to drink water often. Sports and gym class can make them overheat quickly. Children do not cool down as quickly as adults, so keeping well hydrated is important to prevent heat exhaustion or any other heat related complications.
Please, send students to school with comfortable shoes to do exercise to avoid accidents and injuries.
Above all, remember the school nurse is there to help you and your child throughout the school year if any health issues occur or answer any health questions you might have.
