Mrs. Garza 3rd Grade teacher at North was awarded a Unicef - Fitbit Program where students were awarded a grant and provided with all the needed fitbits, software and hardware to participate in Unicef hunger fighting initiative.
The plan is to get kids to become aware of health and wellness lifestyle by monitoring their steps and physical activity. By participating, the students also become part of a global initiative where their steps being tracked are tallied up and matched by corporate and private sponsorship's to provide hunger fighting packets to populations in dire need of nutritional intake foods.
That is why we are creating leaders at North Elementary to bring forth world problems and empowering our students that they themselves are vessels of change in an ever expanding and inter-connected world arena. They also write about their experience as they learn about world maps (Geography), social studies issues and nutritional values of foods.
In that regard, our students by using Technology, Wellness Training, Curriculum Lessons and Internet-connected Fit Bit bracelets our students become Global Partners together with Unicef ,Corporate Sponsors and Private Sponsors in the fight against hunger.
